Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist optometrist with patient care, including taking patient history and performing preliminary tests
- Conduct visual field tests, color vision tests, and other diagnostic tests as directed by the optometrist
- Prepare patients for examination by dilating pupils and administering eye drops
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Perform basic retail math calculations for contact lens orders
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic health record systems
- Adhere to aseptic techniques when handling instruments and equipment
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with sales of eyewear and contact lenses
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmology, pediatrics, and physiology
- Proficiency in taking vital signs such as blood pressure as needed
- Familiarity with retail math calculations for eyewear sales
- Experience with electronic health record systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
