- Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometric Assistant to join our healthcare team.
This role involves providing exceptional patient care, supporting clinical operations, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the optometry practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of medical and optical procedures. Experience with EMR systems, medical terminology, and clinic operations is highly valued. Duties Greet and assist patients during check-in and check-out processes at the front desk Collect patient intake information, including medical history and current concerns Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation levels Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests and assessments Assist with optical procedures, including frame selection and fitting Maintain patient records in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality Support ophthalmology procedures by maintaining aseptic technique and sterilization protocols Educate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and available optical products Manage retail sales of eyewear and accessories, applying retail math for transactions Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and managing medical records Support billing and coding processes related to ophthalmic services Experience Prior experience in a medical office setting, particularly in ophthalmology or optometry, is preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and clinic procedures Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms is advantageous Experience with retail sales, front desk operations, and retail math is a plus Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical record management Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration Background in pediatrics or clinic experience involving pediatric patients is beneficial This position is integral to delivering quality eye care services while supporting operational efficiency within the practice.
