In this vital role, you will assist optometrists by preparing patients for examinations, managing medical records, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with intake processes to ensure accurate medical records Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to support comprehensive eye exams Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary tests including refraction, pupil responses, and ocular health assessments Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times Assist with aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infections and ensure a sterile environment Operate electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Epic efficiently to document exam findings and update patient information Support optical services by assisting with frame selection, retail sales, and inventory management using retail math skills Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure smooth front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and managing medical records Understand basic ophthalmology concepts related to anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to effectively communicate with patients and staff Contribute to pediatric eye care by supporting exams for children in a friendly and reassuring manner Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmology fundamentals Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for accurate documentation Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and aseptic techniques in a healthcare environment Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills is a plus for optical services support Excellent communication skills suitable for working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinic setting while maintaining attention to detail Embark on a rewarding career where your proactive attitude fuels exceptional patient care!
