Terms and Conditions apply•In collaboration with the Chief Ophthalmic Tech Specialist, the Lead Ophthalmic Tech Specialist provides direction and education to staff at assigned location. This jobs serves as a role model and subject matter expert for all technical questions regarding ophthalmic procedures and techniques. This job is responsible for all regulatory activities at assigned location and performs duties of the Ophthalmic Technician/Technologist as necessary. Hire:
Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification at least at the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) level Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: CPR Must obtain Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Technologist (COMT) within 18 months of hire. Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or related field Independent action(s) required: All day-to-day operations of outpatient clinic are handled independently under the direction of the attending physician. Actions that are taken without prior approval include preliminary patient work ups and leadership of staff. Advice and guidance sought from attending physician or Chief Ophthalmic Tech Specialist on an as needed, situational basis Responsibility for all required regulatory activities at assigned location. Practice within the boundaries of regulations governing medical assistants in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Practice is guided by The American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). All practice is guided by and follows the VCUHS policies, procedures and established practice. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Organizes and delegates work to clinical staff (OA, OP, COA, COT, COMT, and CRA) at assigned location to ensure that the clinic flow at that location is smooth and consistent. Provides input in the performance management process.
Additional position requirements:
Hours are Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM with occasional overtime in an academic outpatient clinic environment Age Specific groups served: All Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate):
