Job Description

The Optometric Assistant serves as the face and backbone of the practice. You will manage the seamless flow of the patient experience—from the first greeting and insurance verification to pre-testing and frame/lens selection.
Patient Intake:
greet patients, manage appointment scheduling, and handle check-in/check-out procedures.
Insurance Verification:
Verify vision and medical insurance benefits prior to the patient's visit, and explain coverage and co-pays to patients.
Billing & Payments:
Process payments, manage invoices, and maintain HIPAA-compliant patient health records.
Patient History:
Guide patients to the exam room and accurately document their medical history and current vision concerns.
Diagnostic Testing:
Perform preliminary eye tests as directed by the optometrist (e.g., visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, retinal imaging).
Contact Lens Training:
Teach first-time contact lens wearers how to properly insert, remove, and care for their lenses.
Eyewear Styling:
Assist patients in selecting frames that fit their face shape, lifestyle, and optical prescription.
Lens Recommendations:
Educate patients on premium lens options (e.g., anti-reflective coatings, blue light filters, progressives).
