Job Description

Busy ophthalmology practice located in Virginia Beach, VA, is looking for a dependable, highly motivated ophthalmic technician with excellent communication and organizational skills to join our team.
Experience requirements:
All areas of ophthalmic patient care, including but not limited to patient work-ups, refraction, performing ancillary testing such as OCT, Visual Field and IOL measurement. Compensation is based on experience. Essential Job Responsibilities Patient work-ups, refractions, performing ancillary testing such as OCT, Visual Field and IOL measurement Strong typing skills Strong ability to listen and interpret medical information relayed to them from a Provider Positive work attitude Participates in the delivery of patient care in an effective manner Assist with setting up and preparing procedures in the exam lane Ensure patients are consented before procedures are performed Performs stocking and maintenance of exam rooms Prepares for transport of contaminated instruments and equipment for sterilization. Under direction of physician, may initiate prescription refills and records prescriptions in patients chart. Interacts with patients, visitors, and all personnel in a courteous manner. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients and co-workers; demonstrates respect for individual, cultural, and social differences. Contributes to the positive atmosphere of the work environment Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, physician, and co-workers Able to record activities, document assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluation and re- evaluation of patient status Able to use computer and learn new software programs Able to remain focused and organized Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions Perform other related duties when asked by a supervisor or physician Education Minimal requirement of a high school diploma. Experience Preference of at least two years of ophthalmic experience
