Duties Perform ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure (tonometry), and eye refraction to assist in diagnosing eye conditions. Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques. Assist with patient intake procedures by collecting medical histories, updating electronic health records (EHR/EHR), and recording vital signs accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Support ophthalmologists during examinations by preparing patients, managing clinical supplies, and ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic techniques. Conduct routine clinical tasks including taking vital signs, performing basic eye tests, and assisting with optical measurements like eye refraction. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR), ensuring all patient data is accurately documented, organized, and securely stored following medical records protocols. Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, answering questions professionally, and ensuring a comfortable experience during all ophthalmic examinations. Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred; strong background in medical terminology and anatomy knowledge is essential. Proficiency with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry and tonometry devices. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform ophthalmic patient examinations accurately while demonstrating excellent patient service skills. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently. Strong understanding of physiology related to the eye and visual system; optical experience is a plus. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a healthcare team while providing direct patient care.
