Retina Ophthalmic Assistant (Trainee) Winchester, VA | Woodstock, VA | Martinsburg, WV | Full-Time or Part-Time Retina Associates is seeking a motivated Retina Ophthalmic Assistant (Trainee) to join our retina specialty team. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about patient care, clinical excellence, and supporting the diagnosis and treatment of complex retinal diseases. This role is the first step to a full career progression with increased pay and responsibilities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required Prior healthcare, clinical research, medical assisting, or direct patient care experience preferred Strong interest in healthcare, ophthalmology, retina care, or patient care Excellent communication and patient service skills Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude Certification Timeline Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA): Expected within 12 months after hire, once IJCAHPO eligibility requirements are met, including approved study/course requirements and supervised clinical work hours Certified Retina Technician (CRT) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT): Expected after advancement to the certified assistant level and once IJCAHPO eligibility requirements are met This is a 12-month time-limited appointment that requires advancement to the next level position. Trainees in this position must complete advancement to COA, COT, or CRT to maintain employment. The practice provides training, mentoring, continuing education support, and certification support for professional advancement.
