We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Tech to join our team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has direct experience assisting with ophthalmic testing and procedures. Job Summary The Ophthalmic Technician is an important part of the clinical team at Rudd Vision, focused on outstanding patient care, precision, and maintaining the premium culture of Rudd Vision. Under the guidance of the Lead Ophthalmic Technician, the Ophthalmic Technician performs duties to support the patient's vision journey, from diagnostic testing, to assisting with surgery, and providing post-op care. Responsibilities (subject to modifications as needed) Clinical Excellence and Teamwork Dedication to exacting standards of practice and patient care. Collaborate with clinical team for training and performance feedback to enhance skills, efficiency, and maintain a high level of professionalism. Close adherence to safety protocols, sterilization practices, and procedural guidelines. Surgical Support Assist ophthalmic surgeons in preparation for, and during refractive surgical procedures, including LASIK, EVO, SMILE, Cataract, and other vision correction surgeries. Prepare and maintain the sterile surgical environment, including sterilization of instruments, prepping surgical trays, and handling of surgical equipment. Operate specialized refractive surgery equipment, such as excimer lasers, femtosecond lasers, and diagnostic devices, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance. Monitor patients' vitals and comfort during procedures, providing support as needed. Patient Care Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical histories, explaining pre-operative instructions, and addressing patient concerns. Ensure that patients understand the surgical process and aftercare instructions. Provide support to patients during post-operative visits, assisting with assessments, and helping with any necessary follow-up care. Equipment Operation and Data Analysis Perform pre-op/post-op diagnostic testing accurately and proficiently (including data collection, entry, and outcomes analyses). Maintain and troubleshoot all refractive surgical equipment, ensuring it is in working order and ready for use. Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and any repairs. Accurately document inventory of surgical supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely ordering of necessary materials. Collaboration Work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and front office staff to ensure seamless patient care and coordination. Attend regular clinical team meetings to discuss patient care, improve workflows, and address any operational challenges. Compliance and Quality Control Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, including safety protocols, infection control, and patient confidentiality. Monitor and uphold the highest standards of quality in patient care and surgical practice. Participate in quality assurance initiatives, including audits and performance reviews. Other duties assigned by Lead Ophthalmic Technician/Surgeon. Experience and Education Experience in refractive surgery/premium cataract surgery practice preferred. High School Diploma. Required Skills Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, surgeons, and staff. Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism.
