In this vital role, you will support the optometry team by managing patient intake, assisting with eye examinations, and ensuring a smooth flow of daily clinic activities. Your proactive approach and excellent communication skills will help create a welcoming environment for patients seeking vision care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced medical setting while making a positive impact on patients' lives. Duties Welcome and assist patients in person and by phone, creating a professional and positive patient experience Schedule appointments and manage the clinic schedule to optimize provider efficiency and patient flow Collect and update patient demographic, medical, and insurance information while maintaining accurate records Obtain patient medical histories and prepare patients for examinations Perform preliminary testing to assess visual function and assist the optometrist during exams Explain procedures and help ease patient concerns before and during examinations Document exam findings and maintain accurate clinical notes Assist patients with frame selection, measurements, and basic eyewear adjustments or minor repairs Support vision therapy procedures under the direction of the optometrist Maintain exam room readiness, including stocking supplies and monitoring equipment Assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of office and diagnostic equipment Protect patient privacy by maintaining strict confidentiality of medical and financial information Collaborate with the clinical and administrative team to ensure smooth daily operations Qualifications At least one year of prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and ophthalmology procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms. Experience with medical billing, coding, and insurance claim processes is advantageous. Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and customer service excellence. Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and follow aseptic techniques diligently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a team-oriented mindset; clinic experience is a plus.
