Job Description

As Walla Walla Eye Center continues to grow we are looking for an Ophthalmic Assistant to support our doctors and provide excellent quality patient care. The ideal candidate is proficient with testing, has a great rapport with patients and enjoys a fast paced environment. We are looking for the right person to join our group and grow with us. If you are interested in working with a practice that values both patients and staff please email your resume for review We are seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to assist our providers with documenting patient medical records. The primary duty is to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the practice. We will be taking the following qualifications and capabilities into consideration : High school diploma or equivalent Certified Medical Assistant ( preferred ) Bilingual in Spanish ( preferred ) Strong keyboard ability with accurate typing skills, minimum typing speed of 45WPM• Accurately, thoroughly and efficiently document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the provider Ability to use all functions of electronic medical record software Ability to multitask Compliance with policies relating to HIPAA Excellent communication skills, maintain a professional manner at all times Cooperative mind, commitment to teamwork Duties Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Performs testing required by type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and history. Acts as scribe while physician examines patient entering data into electronic medical records or handwrites in paper chart, oversees patient flow. Is able to take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity. ... Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician. Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, sets up and cleans up from procedures. Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures. Assists with patient education. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the work day. Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations. Understands and accepts responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer. Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
