Job Description

Job Summary Come join a growing optometric practice that provides a different eye care experience. We are looking to add an experienced optometric tech to our team. At River Valley Vision, we believe that there is more to vision than 20/20 eyesight. We specialize in giving patients more functional vision in a higher visually demanding world. We do this through optimizing vision by focusing on the eye to brain connection. As an optometric tech at River Valley Vision, we are looking for someone who is dependable, efficient and brings energy and positivity to our practice. You must be willing to be part of a dynamic group that quickly becomes like family. We are a smaller practice and rely on each staff member to contribute to the patient experience. The optometric tech assists the doctor by sharing in the patient experience from start to finish. From case history through pre-testing and assisting in completing any referrals, calling in medical prescriptions to coordinating other continued care needs. Duties Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage intake processes, including collecting medical histories and updating patient information Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to assist in comprehensive eye exams Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary testing like autorefractor measurements and lensometry readings Assist optometrist during exams with tasks such as maintaining proper aseptic technique and handling ophthalmic instruments Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times Support optical services by helping with frame selection, retail sales, and inventory management while applying retail math principles Ensure clinic cleanliness and adherence to aseptic techniques to promote patient safety and infection control standards Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or clinic environments is highly preferred Knowledge of optometry procedures, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential Familiarity with EMR systems, we currently use RevolutionEHR Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and medical records management required Ability to perform retail sales and retail math accurately while providing excellent customer service Basic knowledge of medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic services is advantageous Passion for patient care, pediatrics experience is a bonus, along with excellent communication skills Embark on a rewarding career where your skills directly impact patients' vision health! $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
