Job Description

```Job Overview``` We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometric Assistant to join our team. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support to our optometrists and ensuring the smooth operation of our optometry practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for eye care and a desire to make a positive impact on patients' lives. ```Responsibilities```
  • Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
  • Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history and performing preliminary tests
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient visits
  • Perform diagnostic tests, such as visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal imaging
  • Assist optometrists during examinations and procedures
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care techniques
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health record systems
  • Schedule appointments and manage the office calendar
  • Process insurance claims and verify patient insurance coverage
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients ```Skills```
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry
  • Experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred
  • Familiarity with pediatric eye care is a plus
  • Understanding of medical coding principles for billing purposes
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Sales skills to assist patients in selecting eyewear or contact lenses
  • Basic understanding of optical principles and lens options
