Job Description
```Job Overview``` We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometric Assistant to join our team. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support to our optometrists and ensuring the smooth operation of our optometry practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for eye care and a desire to make a positive impact on patients' lives. ```Responsibilities```
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history and performing preliminary tests
- Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient visits
- Perform diagnostic tests, such as visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal imaging
- Assist optometrists during examinations and procedures
- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care techniques
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health record systems
- Schedule appointments and manage the office calendar
- Process insurance claims and verify patient insurance coverage
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients ```Skills```
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry
- Experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred
- Familiarity with pediatric eye care is a plus
- Understanding of medical coding principles for billing purposes
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Sales skills to assist patients in selecting eyewear or contact lenses
- Basic understanding of optical principles and lens options
