Makar Eyecare is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Optical Specialist to join our growing team. As an Alaskan-owned practice with 11 providers and 1 Nurse Practioner, state-of-the-art technology, and a full-service optical featuring premium eyewear brands, we are committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience from start to finish. Position Summary Optical Specialist's are responsible for assisting patients with frame and lens selection, educating patients on lens options, processing eyewear orders, adjusting and repairing eyewear, and ensuring an outstanding patient experience. This position combines healthcare, customer service, retail sales, and technical skills to help patients find eyewear solutions that fit their visual needs, lifestyle, and budget. Key Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens enhancements Educate patients regarding lens technologies and eyewear options Accurately measure patients for eyewear orders Process and track eyewear orders Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyewear Ensure accuracy of prescriptions and orders Collect patient balances, co-pays, and outstanding amounts Maintain attractive frame displays and merchandising standards Follow up with patients regarding eyewear orders and pickups Work collaboratively with providers, technicians, and front desk staff Maintain accurate documentation within electronic health records Maintain detailed medical records using EHR systems Ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Qualifications Required Exceptional customer service skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Professional appearance and demeanor Strong attention to detail Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Basic computer proficiency Reliable attendance record Preferred Previous optical, retail sales, healthcare, or customer service experience What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is friendly, motivated, coachable, and enjoys building relationships with patients.
