Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician and become a vital part of delivering exceptional eye care and eyewear services. In this role, you will combine your expertise in optics, patient care, and retail sales to assist patients in selecting the perfect eyewear solutions while ensuring compliance with health regulation policies and maintaining the highest standards of clinical confidentiality. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel confident and cared for from the moment they walk through the door. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in ophthalmology, medical terminology, and optical laboratory procedures within a fast-paced, patient-focused setting. Responsibilities Assist patients with eyewear fittings, spectacle lens dispensing, and frame adjustments to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction Conduct basic eye assessments including auto refractor, visual fields and fundus photos Prepare and process medical records, electronic health records (EHR), and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality Bonus points if you can support optical laboratory tasks such as lens edging, mounting, and quality checks to ensure precise spectacle fabrication Educate patients on eyewear options, lens features, and proper care techniques aligned with health regulation policies Qualifications Proven experience working as an optician or in retail optometry, with a strong understanding of optics, eyewear fittings, and spectacle lens dispensing Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, physiology, and basic math for measurements and calculations is a plus Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, POS systems, and medical coding practices to manage patient information efficiently Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex medical terminology clearly and professionally Understanding of state healthcare regulations, HIPAA guidelines, clinical confidentiality policies, and health regulation policy knowledge Join us in making a difference by providing outstanding eye care services that enhance our patients' quality of life.
