Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented ABO Certified Optician to join our dedicated eye care team. In this vital role, you will leverage your expertise in optical dispensing, patient care, and retail sales to enhance our patients' vision and overall experience. Your proficiency in medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and optical systems will ensure accurate lens fitting and exceptional service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills directly impact patients' quality of life. As an ABO Certified Optician, you will also collaborate closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive eye care. Duties Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear by providing expert advice on frames, lenses, and lens coatings based on individual needs and preferences Measure and verify prescriptions using optical equipment, ensuring precise fitting of lenses and frames Maintain detailed medical records, including patient histories, vital signs, and laboratory results, adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality Prepare and process optical orders using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, ensuring accuracy in medical coding and billing procedures Conduct laboratory tasks such as lens edging, mounting, and quality checks to ensure optimal product delivery Educate patients on proper eyewear care, contact lens usage, and the importance of regular eye exams Support clinic operations by managing inventory levels of frames, lenses, and supplies while performing retail sales duties to meet patient needs Requirements Valid ABO Certification as an Optician with current licensure or registration as required by state law Proven experience in optical dispensing within a retail or clinical setting with strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic and medical billing/coding practices for accurate documentation Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and aseptic techniques for laboratory procedures Experience working with pediatric and senior patient populations in clinic or retail environments Ability to perform vital signs measurement and understand laboratory procedures related to vision care Strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts clearly to patients of all ages and backgrounds Join us to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through expert eye care! $23.48 - $30.00 per hour
