Job Overview Join our dynamic team as an Optician specializing in Optical Sales, where you'll play a vital role in enhancing patient eye health and delivering exceptional customer service. In this energetic position, you'll combine your expertise in optics, medical terminology, and retail sales to assist patients in selecting the perfect eyewear while ensuring compliance with health regulation policies. Duties Assist patients in selecting eyewear that suits their prescription needs, lifestyle, and personal preferences, utilizing your knowledge of optics and anatomy. Conduct preliminary assessments such as measuring vital signs and evaluating visual acuity to support accurate prescriptions. Provide expert guidance on lens options, frame styles, and lens coatings, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality for each patient. Maintain detailed medical records and ensure clinical confidentiality policies are strictly followed in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Operate POS systems and manage retail transactions efficiently while promoting retail sales of eyewear products and accessories. Support laboratory processes by assisting with lens fitting, adjustments, and quality checks to ensure precise outcomes. Stay informed about current health regulation policies, state healthcare regulations, and clinic experience standards to uphold compliance across all procedures. Skills Strong understanding of ophthalmology principles, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to eye care. Proven experience in retail optometry or optical sales environments with knowledge of retail math and sales techniques. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or similar platforms for accurate documentation. Knowledge of medical billing, coding practices, laboratory experience, and aseptic technique to support clinical operations. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care clients. Competence in using POS systems, Vital signs measurement devices, and optical equipment for precise assessments.
