We are looking for an experienced Optician/Optical Sales Associate who enjoys helping patients, takes pride in their craft, and thrives in a supportive, professional environment. Position Overview This role blends technical optical expertise with high-quality customer service. You will guide patients through frame selection, perform accurate measurements, manage lens orders, and ensure every patient receives a smooth, positive optical experience. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses based on prescription, style preferences, lifestyle needs, and budget. Work confidently with luxury and independent eyewear brands. Take accurate optical measurements including PD, seg height, vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt, and frame alignment. Perform expert fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs. Educate patients on lens options, coatings, warranties, and proper eyewear care. Present upgrade options such as anti-reflective coatings, blue-light protection, photochromic lenses, and premium progressive lenses. Verify prescriptions and lens orders; submit and track lab jobs. Inspect eyewear thoroughly for accuracy and quality upon arrival. Process vision insurance benefits and understand coverage rules. Maintain accurate, compliant records within our EMR/optical POS system. Collaborate with optometrists and clinical staff to ensure a seamless patient experience. Stay updated on optical trends, lens technologies, and new product lines. Qualifications Prior experience as an optician or optical sales associate preferred. Strong understanding of optical measurements and lens materials/designs. Experience with EMR or optical POS systems is helpful. Ability to clearly explain eyewear and lens options to patients. Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable. Strong communication and customer service skills. ABOC certification is a plus, or willingness to pursue. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
