Practice Administrator/Process Improvement Manager/Optometrists Job Summary An optician assists customers in selecting eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision-correcting devices. They interpret prescriptions, take measurements, fit eyewear, and ensure customer satisfaction with visual comfort and product quality. Key Responsibilities Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists Help customers choose frames and lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and preferences Measure customers' eyes and facial features (e.g., pupillary distance) Fit, adjust, and repair eyeglasses and frames Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and proper eyewear care Process orders and maintain accurate customer records Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and after-sales service Maintain inventory of frames, lenses, and optical supplies Ensure compliance with health and safety standards Required Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (formal optician training or certification preferred) Knowledge of optical products, vision care, and vision insurance Strong attention to detail and precision Excellent customer service and communication skills Manual dexterity for handling small tools and adjustments Basic math and measurement skills Sales and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications Certification or licensure (varies by region) Experience in retail or healthcare settings Familiarity with optical equipment and software
