Job Description
Job Summary We are a thriving, multisite Ophthalmology practice located in Central Massachusetts seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Optician to join our healthcare team, dedicated to enhancing patient vision and overall eye health. As an Optician, you will play a vital role in assisting patients with selecting eyewear, conducting preliminary eye assessments, and supporting ophthalmology professionals in delivering exceptional care. Your expertise will help ensure accurate fittings, proper lens selection, and comprehensive patient education. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your technical skills and compassionate approach make a real difference in people's lives. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses that meet their prescription needs and personal preferences Manage optical inventory, including ordering lenses, frames, and supplies while maintaining accurate medical billing records Perform laboratory tasks such as lens fitting, adjustments, and quality checks to ensure precise optical prescriptions Educate patients on proper lens care, frame selection, and the importance of regular eye exams; explain medical terminology related to eye health Adhere to HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of all medical records and patient information Support retail sales efforts by providing excellent customer service, understanding retail math principles for pricing, and promoting eyewear products effectively Qualifications Dispensing Optician License preferred, sponsorship available for licensing and ceritifcation Proven experience in optical or retail sales environments with a strong understanding of optical products and services Knowledge of ophthalmology practices including anatomy of the eye, physiology, medical terminology, techniques such as aseptic procedures Familiarity with EMR systems like ModMed EMA or similar platforms used for managing medical records and clinic workflows Understanding of medical coding and billing processes related to optical services and clinic visits Experience working with senior care populations is preferred Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing inventory, medical records, and retail transactions Join us in delivering outstanding eye care that transforms lives!
