Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician, where you will play a vital role in enhancing patient vision and overall eye health. This energetic position combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service, allowing you to assist patients in selecting the perfect eyewear while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. You will work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive optical care in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help us provide outstanding service and foster lasting patient relationships. Duties Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other optical products by providing expert guidance based on their needs and preferences Take precise measurements of patients' eyes, including pupillary distance and frame fitting, ensuring optimal visual correction and comfort Conduct basic eye examinations, including assessing visual acuity, vital signs, and preliminary testing to support diagnosis and treatment planning Maintain detailed medical records and ensure all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality Operate optical laboratory equipment to verify lens prescriptions, perform adjustments, and ensure high-quality eyewear production Collaborate with ophthalmology or optometry teams to interpret medical terminology, review laboratory results, and support clinical workflows using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or similar platforms Manage retail sales of eyewear products, applying retail math skills to meet sales goals while delivering excellent customer service Uphold aseptic techniques during contact lens fittings or any procedures requiring sterile environments, ensuring patient safety at all times Assist with inventory management of optical supplies and medical records, including proper storage and documentation of medical coding for billing purposes Qualifications Proven experience in optical settings or retail sales with a strong understanding of optical products and services Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to eye care Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or equivalent healthcare software for managing medical records and clinic workflows Basic laboratory experience related to lens fabrication or adjustments is highly desirable Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and senior care clients Competence in medical billing practices and medical coding related to optical services is a plus Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy Join us as an Optician where your expertise will make a real difference in people's lives!
