This energetic position combines technical expertise with customer-focused sales, ensuring patients receive personalized solutions for their vision needs. As an Optician, you will assist in selecting and fitting eyewear, manage optical records, and support clinical staff with vital signs and laboratory procedures. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment that promotes clear vision and overall well-being for diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and senior care. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences, leveraging retail sales skills to enhance customer satisfaction. Measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses accurately, ensuring comfort and optimal vision correction. Conduct basic eye assessments such as visual acuity tests, vital signs, and preliminary screenings to support clinical evaluations. Manage optical inventory, including ordering lenses, frames, and supplies while maintaining accurate medical records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Epic. Support ophthalmology providers by understanding medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures related to eye health. Adhere to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality during all interactions and record handling. Assist with laboratory tasks such as lens edging or frame adjustments using aseptic techniques to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Collaborate with the healthcare team on medical coding and billing processes related to optical services and clinic visits. Provide exceptional customer service in retail settings while promoting retail management principles to enhance the patient experience. Support clinic operations by understanding EMR systems, including Epic or similar platforms, to document patient encounters accurately. Participate in pediatric and senior care initiatives by applying specialized knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to these populations. Qualifications 1+ years of in optical settings or ophthalmology clinics with a strong understanding of optical experience and retail sales techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and laboratory procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms. Ability to perform vital signs assessments accurately and understand medical billing practices. Experience working with pediatric or senior patient populations is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with retail math proficiency for inventory management and sales tracking. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy at all times. Excellent communication skills combined with a friendly demeanor to foster positive patient interactions. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
