- Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented and customer-focused Licensed Optician to join our healthcare team.
The ideal candidate will provide exceptional optical services in assisting patients in electing, fitting, and maintaining eyewear. This role requires a strong understanding of ophthalmology, medical terminology, and retail sales, along with experience working with EMR systems. The Licensed Optician will interpret prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists, recommend appropriate lenses and frames, and ensure optimal vision correction and comfort for patients. The idea candidate will also posses a strong foundation in optical services and patient care. Responsibilities Interpret and fill eyeglass and contact lens precriptions. Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on prescription, lifestyle, and personal preferences, utilizing retail sales skills and optical experience, while providing excellent customer service. Measure patients for proper frame fit (pupillary distance, bridge size, temple length, etc). Educate patients on lens options, contact lens fitting, and proper eyewear care to promote optimal vision benefits, while providing excellent customer service. Adjust, repair, and maintain eyeglasses to ensure comfort and accuracy. Verify insurance benefits and process vision care claims. Maintain accurate patient records and inventory. Provide excellent customer service and professionally resolve patient concerns. Stay current with optical products, lens, technologies, and industry trends. Collaborate with ophthalmologists and optometrists to support comprehensive patient care. Qualifications Valid license as an Optician in accordance with state regulations. High school diploma or equivalent (required). Completion of an opticianry program. State licensure or certification. Previous experience in an optical retail or clinical setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and manual dexterity. Ability to work with optical tools and equipment. Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism.
