Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while assisting with various optical tasks. This position requires a solid understanding of optical principles, anatomy, and medical terminology, as well as strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and staff. Duties Assist the optometrist during patient examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring a smooth workflow. Provide patients with information about eyewear options, lens types, and frame styles to help them make informed decisions. Maintain an organized laboratory environment, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment according to aseptic techniques. Manage inventory of optical supplies and assist in retail management tasks, including restocking shelves and tracking sales. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately. Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, including contact lens fitting and maintenance. Skills Strong knowledge of optical principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Experience in retail management and understanding of retail math concepts. Ability to perform aseptic techniques for equipment handling. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, particularly children in pediatric settings. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. A commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
