Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is adding an Optician to our Optometry Team! The Optician assists patients in selecting and fitting eyeglasses after obtaining prescriptions from the optometrist. Applicants claiming Indian Preference must complete the full application and must provide documentation verifying eligibility (such as a tribal enrollment card or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)). Job duties include, but are not limited to: Interprets eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions. Orders, adjusts, and dispenses glasses for patients; documents the visit correctly. Instructs patients with eyeglasses and/or contacts on wear, care, and adaptation. Manages inventory of glasses and supplies. Notifies each patient once the glasses/contact order has been received and verified as correct. Performs basic and routine vision screening examinations. Disinfects and maintains ophthalmic instruments, equipment, and exam rooms. Assists in retinal imaging when needed. Assists with registration tasks, checking patients in and out for appointments as needed. Assist in returning all phone calls or voicemails by the end of each day. Scans in loose chart paperwork into EHR. Correctly handles money for glasses and/or contacts by preparing receipts for patients and by preparing deposits and reports for the finance department. Responsible for monthly reports to the Practice Administrator. Responsible for reconciling invoices from the optical lab. Must display strong organizational skills and multitasking ability. Exceptional customer service is required. Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR). National Opticianry Certification Exam (NOCE) certification preferred. Paraoptometric certification preferred.
