Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear frames, ensuring optimal comfort and style through precise adjustments. Dispense spectacle lenses accurately, explaining features and benefits to enhance patient understanding and satisfaction. Conduct eyewear frame adjustments and repairs, maintaining high standards of safety and aesthetics. Utilize optical laboratory experience to process lens orders, verify prescriptions, and ensure quality control. Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently during retail transactions while maintaining accurate records of sales and medical billing. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries, explaining medical terminology related to vision care, explaining vision plan benefits, and guiding them through their eyewear options. Follow HIPAA guidelines and clinical confidentiality policies diligently when handling medical records and personal information. Support clinic operations by managing EMR/EHR systems such as Crystal PM or other electronic medical record platforms to document patient interactions accurately. Maintain knowledge of health regulation policies, state healthcare regulations, and medical coding standards relevant to optometry practices. Maintain the organization and appearance of the optical area. Support front desk staff with patient check in when necessary. Experience Previous retail optometry or optical experience is highly preferred, including familiarity with spectacle lens dispensing and eyewear fittings. Experience working within ophthalmology or clinic settings involving medical records management and laboratory procedures. Demonstrated ability to operate EMR/EHR systems such as Crystal PM or similar platforms efficiently. Retail management experience or retail sales background is advantageous for providing excellent customer service in a boutique environment. Familiarity with optical laboratory processes, including lens ordering and frame adjustment techniques. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and state healthcare regulations to ensure compliance at all times. Bilingual Spanish speaking is advantageous.
