Dispensing Optician Apprentice

A busy Optometric office is looking for an Optician apprentice to join our team at Clemson.

• located on 518 College Ave.
• M-F hours of 8:30-5:30 and a one-hour lunch break.
• No Saturday, No Sunday hours The ideal candidate will have the desire to work hard to learn (don't bother if you're just looking to punch a time clock and get hours). Training and work to sell and service fashionable and functional eyeglasses with a commitment to provide excellent customer service. Optician responsibilities
• assisting and educating patients with the selection of eyeglass frames
• educating patients on lenses and lens enhancements
• placing orders to maintain inventory
• dispensing orders
• lab finishing and repairs
• adjustments of eyeglass frames Qualified candidates will have excellent communication skills to work in a team setting and a great personality and hunger to work and learn new skills. Don't bother if you like to call in sick from a scheduled work shift. A passion for fashion to help people look great is required.
• meet with representatives of our frame vendors to select new styles to be available on the frame board when selecting the new look for your patient.
• passion for fashion is a plus to "wow" your patient with their new look.
• Secondary responsibilities shared with two receptionists will be in pulling vision insurance authorizations and filing the vision insurance claims for the eye exam and spectacle orders.

Summary As a Dispensing Optician, you will be essential in providing high-quality optical services and ensuring customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Optical Manager, your role involves utilizing your optical to assist clients in selecting eyewear that meets their needs. Your core skills in retail sales and anatomy, combined with premium expertise in optometry and ophthalmology, will enhance patient care. Proficiency in computer systems and EMR will be crucial for managing patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
