Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of optical systems and provide exceptional customer service in a retail environment. This role involves assisting patients with their eyewear needs, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and maintaining accurate medical records. The Optician will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall patient experience while demonstrating expertise in optometry and optical products. Optical experience is preferred; however it is not required - job training can be provided. Job starting pay depends on optical experience $18-$20 depending on experience . Bilingual is preferred but is not required. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions and lifestyle needs. Perform fittings and adjustments of eyeglasses to ensure proper comfort and functionality. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of optical products, including lenses, frames, and contact lenses. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling patient information and medical records. Collaborate with optometrist, ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. Utilize optical systems for managing inventory, sales transactions, and patient records. Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage instructions. Handle retail sales transactions efficiently while providing excellent customer service. Experience Previous experience as an Optician or in a related field is preferred. Knowledge of optometry principles and practices is highly desirable. Familiarity with medical records management systems such as Crystal is a plus. Experience in retail sales, particularly within the optical industry, is advantageous. Understanding of aseptic techniques related to eyewear fitting and care. A background in senior care or working with elderly patients is beneficial. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
