Job Summary Join our dynamic optical team as an Optician - Optical Sales, where you'll play a vital role in enhancing patient experiences by providing expert eyewear consultations, precise lens fittings, and exceptional customer service. This energetic position combines technical optical knowledge with retail sales expertise to ensure each customer leaves with the perfect vision solution. You'll work closely with healthcare professionals to support patient needs while promoting our wide selection of eyewear products. Responsibilities Assist customers in selecting eyewear frames that suit their style, face shape, and prescription needs, ensuring optimal fit and comfort through precise adjustments. Dispense spectacle lenses accurately by interpreting prescriptions and utilizing optical laboratory equipment, maintaining high standards of quality. Conduct eyewear fittings and frame adjustments to ensure proper alignment and comfort for each individual. Provide expert guidance on lens options, coatings, and accessories to enhance visual performance and protect eye health. Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems and cash registers efficiently to process transactions while maintaining accurate financial records. Support laboratory processes such as lens edging, mounting, and quality control to ensure timely delivery of eyewear products. Maintain comprehensive medical records and adhere to clinical confidentiality policies in compliance with HIPAA and health regulation policies. Educate patients on eye health topics, including basic physiology, ophthalmology principles, and the importance of regular eye exams. Collaborate with optometrists or ophthalmologists during clinical visits to support patient care plans involving medical terminology and clinical procedures. Uphold aseptic techniques when handling lenses or equipment in clinical or laboratory settings, ensuring a safe environment for staff and patients. Skills Strong knowledge of optics, ophthalmology, anatomy of the eye, and physiology to provide accurate advice and services. Experience with optical laboratory equipment, spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, and frame adjustments. Familiarity with EMR/EHR (Electronic Medical Records/Electronic Health Records) systems such as Nextgen or similar platforms for managing patient data securely. Retail sales experience combined with excellent customer service skills to engage clients effectively and promote products confidently. Understanding of health regulation policies including HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, medical billing, coding practices, and clinical confidentiality policies. Ability to perform basic math calculations related to retail math, prescription measurements, and financial transactions accurately. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and optometry practices for clear communication within clinical teams.
