Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in retail sales and a passion for providing exceptional customer service. As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in helping patients select and fit eyewear that meets their vision needs while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Duties Assist customers in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription and lifestyle needs. Conduct fittings and adjustments of eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort. Maintain knowledge of current eyewear trends, products, and technologies to provide informed recommendations. Process orders for eyewear, including lenses and frames, ensuring accuracy in specifications. Educate patients on the proper care and use of their eyewear. Manage inventory levels of frames and lenses, performing regular stock checks. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information confidentiality. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in the clinic to provide comprehensive patient care. Place orders through VSP, EM and other applicable portals. Will need to have basic billing. Foundational cross trained skills including front end in clinic background Qualifications Strong retail math skills to assist with inventory management and sales tracking. Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye care. Knowledge of physiology as it pertains to vision health is preferred. Experience in retail sales, particularly in the optical field, is highly desirable. Understanding of senior care considerations when assisting older patients with eyewear needs. Proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Epic is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues while maintaining a professional demeanor.
