Job Description
Front Desk Receptionist / Optician Position Summary The Front Desk Receptionist/Optician is a cross-trained team member responsible for providing exceptional customer service throughout the patient's visit. This position greets patients, manages front office operations, assists with scheduling and insurance, and provides optical services including frame selection, lens education, eyewear fitting, and adjustments. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering an outstanding patient experience. Why work for Visionary Optometry? Come hang out with your friends everyday while getting paid to work! Front Desk Responsibilities Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner. Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries. Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments. Verify patient demographics and insurance information. Collect co-pays, balances, and process payments. Maintain accurate electronic patient records. Coordinate patient flow with doctors and clinical staff. Maintain a clean, organized reception area. Optical Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting frames that fit their prescription, lifestyle, and budget. Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and eyewear products. Take accurate optical measurements. Fit, adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyeglasses. Verify prescriptions and process eyewear orders. Receive, inspect, and dispense completed eyewear. Maintain optical inventory and merchandise displays. Assist with warranty claims, remakes, and insurance benefits related to eyewear. Qualifications Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn practice management software. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Previous optometry, medical office, or optical experience is preferred but not required. Core Expectations Provide outstanding customer service to every patient. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and reliability. Arrive on time and maintain a positive, patient-focused attitude.
