This incentive recognizes your advanced skills and leadership role as Paramedic in Charge (PIC) . Rescue Seat Pay - Earn More on ALS Units $2.00/hour for Lead Paramedics on ALS Transport Units $1.00/hour for Secondary providers (EMT or Paramedic) (One Lead and one secondary provider per unit.) Provide patient care, treatment, and transport within the scope of a certified Paramedic, following Florida law and approved medical protocols. Perform advanced emergency medical procedures as needed during emergency responses. Respond to emergency calls and carry out related duties as required. Support firefighting operations in a non-combat role. Complete reports and maintain accurate patient care and incident records. Make sure all equipment, supplies, and vehicles are stocked, working properly, and well maintained. Take part in required training, drills, and continuing education.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Licenses and/or
Certificates:
Certificate of Completion from a State of Florida EMS/HRS certified training center or equivalent as approved by EMS/HRS. Current certification by the State of Florida as a Paramedic. Successful completion and maintenance of an American Heart Association BLS card. Successful completion and maintenance of an American Heart Association ACLS card. E.V.O.C. certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Possession of a State of Florida driver's license (Class E minimum). Successful completion of Fire Academy and Florida State certification as a FFII may be required after hire at discretion of the Fire Chief. Who You Are You have a solid understanding of advanced emergency medical practices, procedures, and protocols, including those outlined in the U.S. Department of Transportation advanced training program. You're familiar with Florida EMS laws and regulations, including Florida Statutes Chapter 401 and Florida Administrative Code 64J-1. You can successfully complete a comprehensive orientation and testing process approved by the Medical Director. You're mechanically inclined and comfortable operating moderately complex medical and emergency equipment. You work well with others and communicate effectively with coworkers, patients, and the public. You're physically capable of passing agility testing and regularly lifting more than 50 pounds. You can understand and follow both verbal and written instructions. You're able to handle long, physically demanding shifts and work effectively in stressful or challenging conditions. You're eager to learn, adaptable, and open to new methods, techniques, and responsibilities. You are a non-smoker if hired on or after October 1, 1988.
Working Conditions:
Work is exposed to outdoor weather conditions or irate customers, extreme noise, odors, heights, and/or dust.
Risk/Safety Conditions:
The position requires exposure to risk related to physical and/or mental health and safety (e.g., exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment, assault and battery, communicable disease, etc.).
Physical Activities:
Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception, climbing.
