Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps, Inc. is a primary 911 emergency response ambulance service serving the residents of the Towns of Ramapo and Clarkstown since 1967. As a New York State Department of Health-certified ambulance service, the organization provides emergency medical services at both the Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support levels. Spring Hill currently operates 11 ambulances and 7 flycars with volunteer POV response vehicles.
Role Description:
The Paramedic (Per-Diem) is responsible for providing high-quality pre-hospital emergency medical care as part of a 911 response team, providing service for the Spring Valley and Ramapo areas. Role responsibilities include performing patient assessments, initiating advanced life support interventions within the scope of practice, and collaborating with EMTs, other paramedics, and public safety personnel. Daily duties include operating and monitoring medical equipment, documenting patient care accurately and promptly, and maintaining the readiness of vehicles, equipment, and supplies. The Paramedic will participate in training, quality improvement activities, and follow all organizational protocols, local, state, and federal regulations. This is a per-diem role with variable shifts based on operational needs. The current response model is with one or more solo paramedic units responding in a flycar directly to priority dispatched scenes. A BLS ambulance with 2 EMTs would be responding. notes, and ePCR completion GTECH Rugged Laptops to aid in ePCR completion Qualifications Current New York State Paramedic certification, with active CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Hudson Valley REMAC qualification (completion required before starting ride time) with RSI Credential preferred. At least one year of 911 Experience. Demonstrated proficiency in patient assessment, advanced airway management, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and use of defibrillators. Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in high-stress situations. Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients and equipment safely, and to work in varying weather and environmental conditions. Valid driver's license with a record acceptable under organizational and insurer standards (ambulance driving experience preferred). Familiarity with New York State EMS protocols, BLS and ALS standards of care, and incident command principles. Willingness to work per-diem, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to participate in ongoing training and skill refreshers. Work a minimum of 24 hours per month, applicants able to work a steady weekly shift is preferred.
