"We can only keep what we have by giving it away." This role is the ultimate way to give back to others who are struggling with SUD or are new in recovery. You will find this job extremely rewarding and gratifying at our mission-driven practice, whose commitment is to provide leading-edge care to individuals seeking treatment for addiction. While experience with coaching or in the medical field is a bonus, this can be an entry-level position for the right candidate. Compassion and patience are must-haves. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem solving abilities, initiative and an innovative mindset. Recovery Coach reports directly to the Lead Recovery Coach and will work collaboratively alongside the medical team, including medical providers and medical assistants, as well at the therapy team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will be responsible for the following: Conduct coaching interview at appointment Review patient story, focus on crisis that brought them in Review recovery history, depth of understanding Assess readiness for change, openness to treatment Help patient identify obstacles to recovery Help patient set treatment and recovery goals Support patient in adhering to treatment plan Describe role of coach, communication methods with patients Provide report to medical provider Support provider in staying on schedule Serve as first point of contact for patients between appointments, respond to voicemails, telephone/web encounters promptly Assist with intakes Complete all documentation in an accurate and timely manner Cover basic MA duties as needed (obtain, accurately record vitals, UDSs, including witnessed UDSs, pregnancy tests, oral swabs, BAC) Prepare lab samples for Precision and LabCorp Facilitate care coordination within the practice and with outside providers as needed Helps communicate medical decisions to patients, assist with referrals Support patients in utilizing community resources Rotating on-call duty with other peer coaches
Basic Qualifications :
Completed 72-hour PRS training required by
DBHDS. 2
years or more of personal sustained recovery. Per DBHDS requirements, candidates must not have committed any barrier crimes (https://dbhds.virginia.gov/assets/document-library/BIU/09082017/attachment-2-barriercrimes.pdf)
Preferred Qualifications :
Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist preferred (completed training, earned 500 hours and passed the exam). For the right candidate, we will provide the required 500 hours on the job.
