Job Overview Do you enjoy helping others and making a difference in patients' lives? Join Deaconess Illinois as a Patient Transporter , where you'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, timely, and compassionate transportation throughout the hospital. As a member of our patient support team, you'll work closely with nursing and clinical staff to help keep patient care running smoothly while providing exceptional service to every patient you encounter.
Shift:
Full-Time Evenings Compensation:
$16 - $24 What You'll Do Safely transport patients throughout the hospital using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and other transport equipment. Receive transport assignments and promptly respond to patient transport requests. Verify patient information and ensure each patient is transported to the correct destination. Assist with transporting IV poles, oxygen tanks, and other necessary medical equipment during patient transfers. Deliver full oxygen tanks and transport empty tanks to designated refill locations. Dispatch and coordinate patient transport requests as assigned. Maintain an organized inventory of wheelchairs, stretchers, carts, and IV poles, ensuring equipment is clean, available, and stored appropriately. Help keep hallways and patient care areas clear by returning transport equipment to designated locations. Meet departmental productivity and customer service standards. Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members to provide a positive experience. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in healthcare, patient transport, customer service, or hospitality is helpful but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered service. Ability to safely push, pull, lift, and maneuver patients and transport equipment throughout the hospital. Why Join Deaconess Illinois?
