LITTLETON REGIONAL HEALTHCARE POSITION SUMMARY JOB TITLE
Patient Safety Aide FLSA:
Exempt Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT

SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the direction of the Clinical Director of Inpatient Services, the Patient Safety Aide provides patients with companionship and emotional support as required and supervises patients who are at risk of harming themselves or others. A successful Patient Safety Aide, should be an excellent communicator, with a strong ability to listen to people who are often undergoing highly emotional, frightening experiences. Patient Safety Aides will be respectful and discreet. Essential Functions
  • Supervising patients in your care without distraction
  • Alerting nursing when patients need help or intervention
  • Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and understanding when that may not be appropriate
  • detecting changes in the condition of patients and notifying primary nurse
  • Assisting patients with basic requests
  • Refraining from performing medical procedures or any unauthorized actions
  • Keeping patient information confidential
  • Adhering to hospital policies and standards
  • Provides 60 hours of available time each calendar month
  • Must commit to 12-hour shifts

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills
  • Strong observation ability
  • Ability to handle emotional distressing situations
  • Professional appearance
  • Ability to act calmly and swiftly under pressure
  • Completion of verbal de-escalation training—assigned at hire
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit at bedside for prolonged periods
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and change positions quickly
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs independently
  • Ability to implement trained AVADE Level 1& 2 strategies, including:
  • Maintaining safe positioning and awareness of personal space
  • Using appropriate stance, movement, and disengagement techniques
  • Safely redirecting patients without the use of force AVADE Level 1 & 2 training will be provided on-site upon hire.
