A Patient Transporter or Orderly moves hospital patients from one place to another and cleans equipment and facilities. May assist with basic care of patients such as feeding and dressing. Works in hospitals or in long-term care facilities.

Job Overview:

Week Essential Functions:
Maintains a level of attendance and punctuality to meet the demands of the job, Reports to work in uniform, ID badge, pager, etc. in accordance with departmental policy, Maintains the minimum department standard of 2, 6 transport per hour Transporting Patients Advises the nurse, nurse manager or technician when they arrive on floor Introduce yourself to the patient, The transporter always checks the patient's ID band for the two identifiers before transporting the patient (Name and Date of Birth), Assists the nurse or technician in transferring the patient from the bed to the transport equipment or vice versa Use caution when rounding corners, Ensures brakes are used when transferring from stretcher and/or wheelchair Maintains confidentiality of patient information Maintains safety of patients Identifies appropriate situations to seek assistance from nursing staff and/or security Recognizes and reports patient discomfort, distress or emergency situations to the nurse or technician, Always follow infection control and handwashing precautions before, during and after transport, At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
