Patient Transporter - Transporters Christus Health United States, Mexico, Santa Fe 455 Saint Michaels Drive (Show on map) Jun 03, 2026
Description Summary:
Transports patients to their inpatient bed and/or to and from other areas such as admitting, surgery, therapy or radiology in a safe and timely manner. Retrieves medical records, lab results, supplies and medications as required. Prioritizes duties to facilitate department flow. Maintains and cleans equipment.
Responsibilities:
Transports patients safely between hospital departments for procedures, testing, admissions, and discharges. Assists patients onto stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds and ensures safe positioning during transport. Communicates with nursing and clinical staff to coordinate patient transport requests. Ensures patient identification is verified prior to transport according to established procedures. Transports medical equipment, supplies, and other materials as needed. Monitors patient comfort and safety during transport and reports concerns to clinical staff. Maintains cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment including wheelchairs and stretchers. Follows infection control procedures and safety protocols. Maintains courteous and professional communication with patients, families, and staff. Assists with maintaining an organized and safe patient transport environment.
Requirements:
Education/Skills High School Diploma or GED required, or In lieu of a High School Diploma or GED, two (2) years of relevant work experience above the minimum qualification Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare support, patient transport, customer service, or a related service role preferred. Ability to safely transport patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, and hospital beds. Knowledge of basic patient safety and handling techniques. Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with patients and healthcare staff. Ability to follow safety procedures and patient identification protocols. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in a healthcare environment. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
