Job Description

Position Details:
Transports patients and equipment to and from various departments within the Medical Center. Performs various patient related activities, as assigned. Patients are transported in a safe manner and proper body mechanics are utilized at all times. Maintains PAR levels for equipment in various locations throughout the Medical Center. Continuously shows the ability to work well with other co-workers (both within the Patient Transportation Department and other departments). Uses Epic software to track each patient's location as they travel to and from designated areas throughout the facility. Uses Epic software to to track equipment movement throughout the facility. Safety/Risk Management- Acknowledges and maintains the right to privacy and confidentiality.
- Contributes to the continuity and consistency of patient care by making self available to the department by following assigned working schedule and arriving to work on time, logs into Epic and retrieves first move of the day. Assists Nursing and ancillary Departments with transferring patients from Bed to stretcher (of wheelchair) and back, using proper body mechanics. Primary Aspects
- Transports patients in an efficient and caring manner. Patient is provided a cover for privacy (Dignity Cape). Transfers chart with patient. Assists nurses, PCA's or Techs with patient transfers. Transports deceased patients, fetal demises, and limbs to the morgue. Discharges patients from the Medical Center (including Heart Prints patients
- mothers that lost their child during birth).
- Communications are courteous, utilizing appropriate statements in a pleasant tone of voice.
- Keeps pager on at all times and responds to pager each time it is paged.
