OVERVIEW
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality, safe, and engaging group fitness experiences for club members and guests. This position leads a variety of group fitness classes by providing knowledgeable instruction, demonstrating proper exercise technique, offering appropriate modifications, and creating a welcoming environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Teach scheduled group fitness classes that begin and end on time, providing an appropriate warm-up, workout, and cool-down. Instruct class members on effective workout methods, explain proper techniques, and demonstrate movement. Monitor participants throughout each class and provide appropriate feedback and corrections to promote proper form, technique, and safety. Provide movement modifications and progressions to accommodate varying fitness levels, abilities, and limitations while maintaining a safe and effective class environment. Use appropriate equipment, music and materials for each class and ensure the space is properly set up prior to the start of class. Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes, allowing for sufficient time to set up equipment and prepare for instructions. Assist members with questions, maintain a positive, welcoming, and engaging exercise experience. Develop and maintain positive relationships with members, providing a personalized and welcoming experience that reflects the service standards and values of the Spa & Fitness department. Encourage member participation and engagement by creating an energetic, professional, and inclusive class environment. Maintain accurate class attendance records and communicate relevant member feedback to management as appropriate. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the group exercise area and return equipment to its designated location following each class. Promote and represent Spa and Fitness programs and services. QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience At least one year of experience as a Group Fitness Instructor in a gym, fitness facility, or private club setting. Understanding of how wellness modalities complement and support fitness and overall well-being. Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities Proficiency in the use and safe operation of fitness equipment. Ability to demonstrate exercises with proper form and technique. Strong communication, motivation, and member engagement skills. Understanding of emergency protocols and the ability to perform essential duties during emergency situations. Required Licenses/Certifications Must be certified with a nationally certifying body such as The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (SCA), American Council on Exercise (ACE), and/or the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). Licensed/Branded Formats
- Instructors teaching licensed or branded group fitness formats must complete all required training and main the appropriate license or certification.
Current CPR and AED certification through the American Red Cross.
