Job Description

This position may be filled while job is posted. Instructor needed for Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30pm with possibility of more classes in the future. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Certified Water Fitness Instructor to lead engaging and safe water-based fitness classes at our community recreation center. The ideal candidate will inspire participants of all fitness levels, promoting health and wellness through innovative and effective water fitness programs. This role involves designing and delivering group exercise classes, ensuring participant safety, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Plan, organize, and lead water fitness classes, such as aqua aerobics and or water fitness classes, aqua Zumba, or Silver Sneakers Water Aerobics tailored to diverse participant needs and fitness levels. Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and provide modifications to accommodate varying abilities, ensuring safe and effective workouts. Monitor participants during classes to ensure safety, correct form, and adherence to pool regulations. Develop creative and engaging class routines to maintain participant interest and motivation. Provide excellent customer service by addressing participant questions, offering encouragement, and fostering a welcoming class environment. Maintain a clean and safe aquatic environment, including inspecting equipment and reporting any maintenance needs. Promote water fitness programs through community engagement and collaboration with facility staff. Maintain accurate attendance records and report any incidents or concerns to management. Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new water fitness techniques to enhance class offerings.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or coursework in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or a related field is preferred.
Training and Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience leading group fitness classes, preferably in an aquatic environment. Knowledge of water-based exercise principles, including resistance training, cardiovascular fitness, and flexibility. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate participants.
Certification Requirements:
Current certification as a Water Fitness Instructor from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., AEA Aquatic Fitness Professional Certification) Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required Additional certifications in group fitness, personal training, or specialized aqua programs (e.g., Aqua Zumba, Ai Chi) are highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate and perform water-based exercises, stand for extended periods, and work in a pool environment. Must be comfortable in water and able to assist participants as needed.
Other Skills:
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and adapt to varying class schedules. Strong organizational skills and a passion for promoting health and wellness.

As a condition of employment, applicants selected for employment with the City of Fort Lupton may be required to undergo pre-employment drug testing and background check. Candidates whom are hired are subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing. Some departments are also subject to random drug testing. Employment references may be conducted on finalist for the City of Fort Lupton vacancies. The maintenance of a valid license and a good driving record is required if the job duties require the operation of City vehicles or equipment or who must travel by motor vehicle in the course of City business.

Applicants may be required to furnish copies of Motor Vehicle Records (less than 30 days old) when applying for positions that require a valid driver's license.
