Speer YMCA Description:
The Mat Pilates instructor is responsible for leading both beginning and experienced exercises in safe and effective group classes. The goal of our wellness programs are to assist members in making a healthy lifestyle changes, to build self-esteem, and encourage consistency.
Duties:
Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. Regularly checks all equipment to ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness in addition to set up and breakdown of equipment. Keeps accurate class attendance records. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Abides by the safety, injury and illness, and prevention guidelines by taking personal responsibility for own safety and safety of program participants. Provides emergency first aid if needed, and completes appropriate incident reports when necessary. Understand and promote all YMCA programs values.
Requirements:
Minimum 18 years of age Requires HS diploma or equivalent Required certifications: CPR , First Aid, AED, national certification (ex.
ACE, NETA,AFAA, NASM
) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification. Pilates Instructor Certification. Able to articulate and communicate effectively while instructing participants in proper execution of exercise safety. Current knowledge of exercise class structure; demonstration of cueing technique; demonstration of creative choreography and exercise variety. Minimum one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred. Physical stamina and agility for extended periods of time is required. Pass a 10-panel drug screen. Clear a Level 2 background check•
Pay & Perks:
Part-time, $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience experience and certifications. Flexible hours and shifts available to include mornings, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for family.
