Job Description

Job Overview D1 Training is seeking an energetic, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Group Fitness Coach to deliver a high-quality, sports performance-based training experience to athletes of all ages. D1 Training is not a traditional group fitness facility. Our workouts are built around the same principles used to train competitive athletes, including strength, speed, agility, conditioning, mobility, coordination, and injury prevention. We train athletes ranging from seven years old to adults who want to move, perform, and feel like athletes. The Group Fitness Coach is a front-line representative of the D1 brand and plays a critical role in creating an engaging, challenging, safe, and results-driven training environment. Coaches are responsible for leading D1 membership workouts, youth athletic development sessions, adult sports performance classes, small-group training, team training, and personal training when applicable. All coaches must become Level 1 Certified the D1 Way and consistently follow D1 programming, coaching standards, safety protocols, and quality-control measures. Primary Responsibilities Lead high-energy, sports performance-based group training sessions for youth and adult athletes. Coach proper technique in strength training, speed development, agility, conditioning, mobility, balance, coordination, and athletic movement. Deliver all workouts according to D1 programming and brand standards. Create a positive, motivating, and competitive training environment appropriate for athletes of different ages and ability levels. Clearly demonstrate exercises and provide effective coaching cues, corrections, regressions, and progressions. Maintain control, organization, tempo, and smooth transitions throughout every workout. Provide individualized coaching and attention within the group environment. Build strong relationships with members and help athletes remain motivated, accountable, and committed to their goals. Assist with athlete assessments, goal setting, and program recommendations during the Free Training Assessment process. Support personal training, small-group training, team training, camps, combines, and special athletic performance programs as needed. Maintain appropriate coaching attire, professional conduct, music selection, energy, and communication during all sessions. Help maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the turf, weight room, equipment, and other training areas. Inspect equipment regularly and immediately report any maintenance or safety concerns. Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, coach development, and program reviews. Attend and support community events, combines, competitions, camps, school partnerships, and other marketing or promotional activities. Share member progress, athlete success stories, and program feedback with facility leadership. Coaching Expectations The ideal candidate understands that D1 group training is athletic performance training, not choreographed aerobics or general boot-camp fitness. Coaches must be comfortable teaching and demonstrating movements such as: Sprinting and acceleration drills Agility and change-of-direction exercises Strength and resistance training Plyometrics and explosive movement Athletic conditioning Mobility and movement preparation Balance, coordination, and body-control exercises Coaches must be able to command a room, communicate clearly, maintain a fast-paced training environment, and provide hands-on instruction while ensuring that every athlete trains safely and effectively. Qualifications Personal training, strength and conditioning, sports performance, or group fitness coaching experience preferred. Experience working with youth athletes, adult athletes, or athletic teams preferred. Nationally recognized certification such as NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, ISSA, or a comparable certification preferred. CPR/AED certification required or must be obtained shortly after hire. Strong understanding of exercise technique, athletic movement, strength training, and injury prevention. Ability to coach athletes with different experience levels, physical abilities, and performance goals. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and customer-service skills. Dependable, professional, energetic, and receptive to coaching and continued education. Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required by the class schedule. Physical Requirements Ability to demonstrate strength exercises, running drills, agility movements, and athletic training techniques. Ability to remain active and on your feet throughout training sessions. Ability to lift, move, and organize training equipment. Ability to coach with a clear, confident, and energetic voice in a group environment.
Pay:
$22.00 - $30.00 per hour
