Job Description
RECREATION LEADER II
LOCATION:
Queen Anne's County, Maryland
JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision, is responsible for the direct organization of a variety of recreation services and programs, including but not limited to indoor and outdoor programs, camps, sporting events, club house operations, and special events. Work with children and will assist the Recreation Leader III during assigned recreation activities.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONSOpen and close recreation activities, fields, and buildings according to established guidelines.
Supervise daily activities of participants and enforce Queen Anne's County program rules, Field Use Policy, and Youth Camp Standards.
Set up and clean before and after recreation activities, programs, events, etc.
Lead or assist with games, activities, and a variety of team sports. Prepare craft activity content and materials.
Responsible for cash handling and adhering to the cash handling policy.
Responsible for providing host duties, handling of pre-packaged foods and beverages.
Accompany and assist participants on hikes, field trips, special events and other activities. Provide assistance to the Recreation Leader III with a variety of recreation activities, programs and events.
Ad to safety guidelines to prevent injuries.
Provide cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIESAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one -on-one and small group situations to customers.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detail but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCPR/First Aid preferred.
EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCEMust be at least 18
• years old OR have a high school diploma or GED. At least one year of college OR at least one year of experience working with youth in the field of parks and recreation, physical education, childcare, or a related field required.
•Age restriction is based on COMAR regulations for working with children in camp settings.
PHYSICAL
DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms and talk and hear.
