Fitness Coach / Personal Trainer Up to $35/HR Strength Studio NJ Hawthorne, NJ Job Details Part-time $25 - $35 an hour 8 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Opportunities for advancement Flexible schedule Qualifications Certified Personal Trainer CPR Certification Sports coaching experience Teaching AED Certification Full Job Description Strength Studio | Hawthorne, NJ Part-Time Coach | Growth Opportunity We're looking for a great coach. Not someone who simply knows exercises. Not someone who wants to stand at the front of the room and count reps. And not someone who believes being the loudest person in the gym makes them the best trainer. We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about becoming an exceptional coach . Someone who notices things. Who can connect with the person who's nervous about strength training just as easily as the person who's been training for years. Someone who wants feedback, takes pride in getting better at their craft, and understands that the best coaching happens when people feel both challenged and cared for. If that sounds like you, we'd like to meet you. About Strength Studio Strength Studio is a semi-private personal training studio in Hawthorne, NJ built to help everyday adults get stronger, move better and stay capable for real life. Our members aren't walking into a packed class where they're expected to figure things out on their own. They're coached. They're known by name. Their training is adjusted to the person standing in front of us. And we're serious about maintaining that standard as we grow. We're looking for the next coach who can help us do exactly that. The Opportunity This is a part-time coaching position with an opportunity to take on additional hours, responsibilities and eventually grow into a full-time role as Strength Studio continues to grow.
Current Schedule Tuesdays:
5:00 AM-10:00
AM Thursdays:
5:00 AM-10:00
AM Rotating Saturdays:
approximately 1-2 per month Additional opportunities may become available as the studio grows. Reliability for these hours is important. Our members build their training into busy lives, and we take being there for them seriously. What You'll Do Your primary responsibility is simple: Deliver an exceptional coaching experience. That means you'll: Coach semi-private strength training sessions. Teach, cue and modify movements effectively. Give every member individual attention within the group. Build genuine relationships with the people you coach. Communicate important member and coaching notes with the team. Keep the training floor prepared, organized and operating at a high standard. Participate in ongoing coaching development and feedback. You will not be responsible for building your own book of personal-training clients or making sales. We work to bring great members into Strength Studio. Your responsibility is to take exceptional care of them once they're here. Who We're Looking For Experience matters. But potential matters too. We'd absolutely consider an experienced coach who has spent years refining their craft. We'd also consider someone earlier in their career who has an excellent foundation, great people skills, humility and a serious desire to become great. The person we're looking for is: Coachable — welcomes feedback and applies it. Hungry — genuinely wants to improve their craft. Reliable — people can count on you. Personable — connects naturally with different types of people. Observant — notices the details that make coaching personal. Professional — communicates and carries themselves well. Confident without ego. Committed to growing with the team. You don't need to know everything. You do need to care deeply about getting better. Qualifications Candidates should have at least one of the following: A nationally recognized Personal Training Certification such as NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, ISSA or equivalent OR A degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or another relevant field Current CPR/AED certification is strongly preferred and will be required to independently coach members. Previous personal training, semi-private training, small-group training, strength and conditioning, sports performance or similar coaching experience is preferred, but exceptional early-career candidates are encouraged to apply. Compensation & Growth This position begins at $25/hour during the Strength Studio coach onboarding and development process. After successfully demonstrating the ability to independently deliver our coaching standard, compensation progresses to $28/hour , with additional compensation growth available as coaching ability, hours, responsibilities and contribution to the studio increase. Our goal isn't to keep a great coach at an entry-level rate. Our goal is to create a path where someone who becomes increasingly valuable to our members and team can build a meaningful career here. Professional Development & Perks We believe great coaches should continue becoming better coaches.
Team members receive:
Up to $500 annually toward approved continuing education and professional development Access to Studio Coach professional development events, education and experiences Ongoing internal coaching feedback and development Opportunities for additional responsibility and advancement as Strength Studio grows Spot and performance bonuses as business growth and individual contribution create those opportunities What Success Looks Like Six months from now, we'd want our members to know you, trust you and be excited when they see your name on the coaching schedule. We'd want the other coaches on the team to trust your judgment. We'd want you to understand our system while still continuing to develop your own coaching abilities. And we'd want you to be able to walk onto the Strength Studio floor and take complete ownership of the coaching experience. That's the standard we're hiring toward. How to Apply Send us your resume along with a short response to the following: 1. Why did you become a coach? 2. What do you think separates an average personal trainer from a genuinely great coach? 3. What are you looking for in the next place you coach? Don't worry about giving us the "perfect" answers. We'd rather hear how you actually think.
