About OARS The Outdoor Arts & Recreation Society (OARS) is dedicated to providing engaging outdoor recreation and arts experiences for youth. We believe in fostering creativity, leadership, personal growth, and a connection to the outdoors through hands-on activities and mentorship. Position Summary OARS is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Youth Program Leaders to facilitate weekly youth-focused recreation and/or arts programming. This is an ideal opportunity for educators, artists, outdoor recreation professionals, coaches, camp counselors, and community leaders who enjoy mentoring young people and creating positive, engaging experiences. Program Leaders will guide participants through activities using curriculum topics and supplies provided by OARS while bringing their own expertise, energy, and leadership style to each session. Responsibilities Lead weekly youth recreation and/or arts activities. Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for participants. Facilitate hands-on learning experiences and group engagement. Adapt provided curriculum topics to fit the needs and interests of participants. Communicate regularly with OARS staff regarding program progress and participant engagement. Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure participant safety during activities. Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth. Qualifications Required Experience working with youth in educational, recreational, artistic, camp, coaching, or community settings. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to independently facilitate small-group activities. Reliable and consistent attendance throughout the program period. Willingness to undergo a background check. Background information will be considered in context, and a prior record does not necessarily preclude participation. Experience developing or leading youth programs. First Aid/CPR certification (not required but valued, free certification classes available).
