Job Description
Company Overview The JCC of Mid-Westchester is a vibrant, multi-generational community center dedicated to enriching lives through diverse human services, educational, cultural, and recreational programs. Our goal at JCCMW Gymnastics is to provide a safe and fun environment for our participants within a framework of positive reinforcement and encouragement! We strive to provide the most positive experience possible for everyone involved. Our staff has a deep passion for the sport of gymnastics and we love passing it on to the next generation of young gymnasts. We love teaching fundamental skills and progressions while providing knowledge of the sport and supporting the athletes in gaining self-confidence and achieving their goals. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Gymnastics and Program Manager and provide instruction within the Gymnastics Department. This will include exhibiting energy and passion for the sport, maintaining a high level of professional ethics and an ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a positive and constructive manner. This is a part-time role (up to 10 hours per week).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 30-120 minute lessons based upon recreational curricula
- Follow proper progressions to safely teach age-appropriate and level-appropriate gymnastics, keep classes fun and exciting and evaluate gymnasts.
- Implement foundational gymnastics while teaching proper progressions on each event
- Focus on safety and responsibility for own class
- Create a fun and engaging environment based on ages and abilities
- Have the ability to differentiate instruction based on children's individual needs
- Demonstration of time management and organizational skills while teaching classes
- Exhibits an energetic, professional, and courteous demeanor at all times
- Be willing to learn and implement new strategies and receive guidance from the director and coordinators Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
- At least 14 years of age
- Hold the following certifications or be prepared to qualify for them through the JCC during training o USA Gymnastics Recreational Instructor o U100: Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction o U101: Safety & Risk Management (18+) ○ U110: Safe Sport (18+) o U112: Tough Coaching or Emotional Abuse (18+) o U113: Safe Sport Policy (18+) ○ U201: Concussion Acknowledgement (18+) ○ CPR/AED (recommended)
