Job Description
Under the guidance of the Wellness Director, a Personal Trainer is responsible for creating a comprehensive one-on-one educational fitness program. The purpose of this program is to assist the individual in setting realistic goals and to encourage lifelong adherence to a safe and effective exercise program. It is the goal of the personal trainer to educate the member on the basics of proper execution of both cardiovascular and resistance training machines and to produce independent exercises due in part of the education process. The primary aspects in personal training include a thorough review of the client's personal health history, fitness evaluation and consultation, and proper program design. Responsibilities Work with the Wellness Director to develop the needs of the Personal Training Program Acquire knowledge to develop safe and effective personalized fitness programs for trainees, including cardiovascular, strength training, and flexibility components, based on their goals and motivations. Perform fitness assessments including body fat composition, strength, and flexibility and cardiovascular functions Attend all initial and ongoing trainings and employee meetings Maintain certifications and stay current with exercise techniques Have current knowledge of strength training guidelines and ability to modify exercise for special populations when needed Qualifications Minimum age of 18 Valid Driver's License or photo ID, reliable transportation, and working phone number Nationally recognized personal trainer certification (NASM, ISSA, ACSM, ACE, etc.) Strong personal commitment to overall wellness and have a positive attitude Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Have, or be in the process of obtaining CPR/AED, Basic First Aid. Ability to pass background checks in accordance with all Berwick Area YMCA policies for child abuse prevention. We are looking forward to reading your application.
