Job Description

The Derry Township Parks and Recreation Department is looking for Certified Personal Trainers for the Derry Township Community Center. The Personal Trainer position is for an Independent Contractor who will be onsite for training appointments or small group sessions as needed. The trainer has to have daytime (8 am-5 pm) and/or evening availability for clients who want to schedule training sessions at various times throughout the day. The job duties will include but are not limited to: Develop safe, professional, and effective workouts for clients based on their individual need and fitness goals Provide avenues of progress for each client with clear instruction and comprehensive training information Monitor and instruct clients during personal training sessions on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training equipment Prescribe and educate clients on specific exercises they will be performing outside of their training sessions Ensure all members feel competent, confident, and have all questions answered during every training session Willingness to offer small group training programs throughout the year Remain current on all certifications and new trends in the industry Key Qualifications for the Certified Personal Trainer is: Nationally accredited personal training certification At least 1 year of personal training experience (preferred) Good communications skills; verbal, written, and technical Have a basic understanding of nutrition and overall wellness (must stay within scope of practice with clients) Reliable transportation Strong and collaborative work ethics Flexible availability Must possess and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain within 6 months of hire date Pennsylvania State Police Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance required Must provide proof of Professional Liability Insurance Application Question(s): Do you have PA Criminal Background Clearance? Do you have PA Child Abuse Clearance? Do you have FBI Fingerprinting Clearance? Do you have availability as specified in the Job Description? Do you have the required clearances and liability insurance listed in the Key Qualifications, and if not, are you willing to get them?
