Job Description

Description The purpose of this position is to assist in planning, maintaining, and teaching recreation activities for the City of Spartanburg and is responsible for assisting in recreation centers. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. This position is part-time and may work during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Examples of Duties Plans, assists and supervises recreation programs, activities, sports and athletic programs for the youth, families, and community. Supervises the playing of games at the center. Sets up athletic and class equipment. Inspects equipment for condition and safety. Issues center equipment and maintains proper inventories. Monitors equipment use at the recreation center. Maintains the calendar for meetings, programs, and events. Supervises, manages, and monitors center participants. Assists in planning, scheduling and implementing activities and events. Assists in the operations of the recreation facilities. Set ups and takes down tables and chairs. Ensures players and attendees adhere to center policies. Assists in clean-up and maintenance of recreation center and admission area. Empties trash cans, replace liners, and sweep walkways near entrances. Greets program participant and answers questions regarding center programs. Follows and implements standard operating policies and procedures for recreational facilities. Receives and handles complaints providing assistance, information, and solutions as needed. Performs related work as assigned. Typical Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency. One (1) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours. Supplemental Information Pay rate depends upon experience and qualifications. Starting pay rate is $16.84 per hour.
